Fringe Benefits For All
06 June 2002
Edinburghs biggest free family
day out just got bigger thanks to support from The Royal Bank of Scotland. The
Royal Bank Fringe Sunday offers a free taste of the best of the Festival Fringe
with live shows, a fun fair and entertainment for all the family.
The Royal Bank of Scotlands sponsorship of the Festival Fringe has been
expanded to include not only the stages and display features which make up The
Royal Bank on the Royal Mile, but also the highly popular Fringe Sunday. The
Bank has worked with the organisers to provide a fun, safe environment for
performers and visitors with the target of making this the best ever Fringe
Sunday.
The Royal Banks support through the festival season this year will also extend
to the Edinburgh International Festival and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Jim Bellany, Head of Sponsorship for The Royal Bank of Scotland said, Edinburgh
comes alive as the cultural and entertainment centre of the world during the
festival season and the Royal Bank is delighted to be involved in all aspects of
this summers activities.
While we are involved in markets in the UK, Europe and America, we are
conscious that the Royal Bank is Edinburgh born and based. As such, it is only
natural that we would want to continue and expand our support for the City.
Notes to Editors:
The Royal Bank of Scotland is also sponsoring 25 classical concerts at the Usher
Hall at £5 per ticket and the Canadian Opera Company is performing Oedipus Rex
with the Symphony of Psalms by Igor Stravinski.
The Royal Bank of Scotland Group is a strong supporter of the arts, theatre,
dance and music through a number of projects throughout the UK. We support the
Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Edinburgh International Festival, The Royal Bank
Street Party at Hogmanay, The Art of Star Wars exhibition currently running at
the City Art Centre, Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet. Last year we announced
our support for the Monet exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in 2003.
The Royal Bank Fringe Sunday is on August 11 from 11 am
on the Meadows. It's free entry and will showcase the Festival Fringe's finest
talent.
