Mortgage Loanguard

When you're taking out a mortgage, it makes sense to buy a little extra peace of mind.

When you buy a new house, the last thing you want to think about is how you would keep up your mortgage payments, if you lost your job, became ill or had an accident.

If you can answer yes to the following questions, you are eligible for cover.

  • Are you aged between 18 and 64?
  • Do you work in the UK (employed or self-employed) for at least 16 hours per week?

Benefits:

  • Mortgage payments covered if you are off sick or made unemployed for a continuous period of more than 60 days
  • Up to 12 monthly payments will be made for any one claim
  • Payments made regardless of your income
  • Cover can be split 50:50 if you have a joint mortgage

How much will I pay?

The monthly payment for Mortgage Loanguard is related to your mortgage. Simply key in your monthly mortgage payment, select the type of cover you would like and we'll tell you how much your monthly premium is likely to be.

Exclusions:

As with all insurances there are some exclusions, but these have been kept to a minimum. The main ones are claims arising from:

  • unemployment which you are told about in the first 30 days after the start of you policy (90 days where a RBS mortgage is not arranged at the same time), or unemployment which is voluntary
  • any medical condition for which you have received advice, treatment or counselling in the year before the loan started, whether you were off work or not.
  • pregnancy or childbirth unless either of these develops into a complication which is diagnosed as such by a doctor or consultant who specialises in obstetrics.
  • alcohol or drug abuse; your own misconduct.

Mortgage Loanguard is underwritten by Direct Line Insurance plc
