do your banking over the Internet - from wherever you are. You can carry out a whole range
of transactions including checking your account balances, setting up standing orders and
transferring money to any UK bank account.

An Interest Free Overdraft
Interest free overdrafts are tiered depending on which year
of study you are in:
- 1st year students £1250
- 2nd year students £1400
- 3rd year students £1600
- 4th year students £1800
- 5th year students £2000
- There are no monthly charges
- No arrangement fees for overdrafts within these limits
- Higher overdrafts may be available on request. Interest will
be charged on any amount used above the interest free limit.
- Overdrafts are only available to full time students aged
18 or over and are subject to the Banks assessment of the customers financial
standing.
Fee Free Credit Card
- Student Royalties customers can apply for a Student Visa
Card with a limit up to £500
- There is no annual fee while you are a student
- Up to 8 weeks interest free credit
- Interest rate 17.9% APR
Student Mortgages
- It can be worth your while buying a flat as opposed to
renting for a number of years. The Royal Bank of Scotland offers a wide range of mortgage
products that might suit your circumstances.

Career
Development Loans
- This enables an individual to gain financial
support to help pay for vocational education or training. This is through a partnership
with the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE) and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The DfEE pays the interest on the bank loan while the individual is studying.
- Loans between £300 and £8,000 available
- If you are looking to do further training following a degree, or a vocational
qualification that would improve your job prospects then you may be interested in taking
out a Career Development Loan to assist you during such a time.
Special Loan Scheme Law Students
- Eligibility
- Available to Post Graduate students who are taking a Legal Practice Course (LPC),
Postgraduate Diploma in Law, Common Professional Examination, Diploma in Law conversion
courses or similar on a full-time basis and have a confirmed Offer of Articles/Training
Contract
- Students who are studying for Bar Exams should refer to our Advocates and
Barristers Vocational Training Loan Scheme
- Students who do not have a confirmed Offer of Articles/Training Contract may still be
considered.
- The Loan
- The loan can be used to help fund course fees or help out with daily expenses whilst
studying.
- Borrow up to £15,000 (£5,000 maximum if youre studying towards the Common
Professional Examination or Diploma in Law conversion courses)
- Repayments
- No repayments during study period and for up to 12 months after (i.e. repayments start
in September, the year after you graduate)
- Then have the option of repaying interest only for the next 12 months
- Take up to 7 years to repay the loan (including the interest only year)
Special Loan Scheme HealthCare Students
- Eligibility
- Available to students studying medicine, dentistry, veterinary, chiropractic and
osteopathy on a full-time basis
- Available from year 1 of your course
- The Loan
- The loan can be used to help you pay for essentials, a car or even towards your elective
studies.
- Borrow up to £15,000 (£1,000 maximum in each of your first 2 years of study)
- Repayments
- No repayments during study period and for up to 6 months after (i.e. repayments start in
January, the year after you graduate)
- Take up to 7 years to repay the loan
