A strategic alliance with Banco Santander Central Hispano (BSCH) of Spain was established in 1989. This alliance has been at the heart of both The Royal Bank of Scotland and BSCH’s approach to European banking. The support of BSCH was a key element in the success of
The Royal Bank of Scotland bid for NatWest, completed in March 2000.
