Wealth Management provides banking, wealth
management, investment management, financial planning and trust and fiduciary
services to a wide spectrum of personal, private and corporate clients.

Coutts is one of the UKs leading private
banks, with 38 offices worldwide. It saw a 6% increase in its customer base last
year, with exceptionally strong growth in some specialist areas. The number of
professional footballer and motor racing clients doubled, whilst the number of
music industry clients grew by 20%.

In the UK, Coutts assets under management
grew by 6% against a backdrop of difficult market conditions in equities. Coutts
Group has £34.7 billion assets under management worldwide.

Coutts operates one of Europes largest
funds of hedge fund managers with over US$2.7 billion invested.

NatWest Stockbrokers continues to be one of
the leading providers of sharedealing services for private investors and is one
of the three largest brokerages in the UK by volume of trades.

NatWest Private Banking and Private Banking
at The Royal Bank of Scotland were launched using Coutts investment management
experience and products to provide a wealth management service for customers.

Adam & Company continued to build on its
unique position as the only Scottish registered private bank to offer a full
banking and investment management service. During 2001, Adam & Company reached
agreement with First State Investments Limited to provide investment
administration services for its Stewart Ivory business, which will take funds
under administration to £3 billion.

The Royal Bank of Scotland International (RBSI)
increased its contribution by providing innovative offshore solutions in
specialist areas such as corporate and structured finance, offshore financial
markets, securities services and expatriate banking. RBSI strengthened its
position further by completing delivery of its industry-leading, multi-currency
electronic banking system.

The NatWest-branded offshore businesses
continued to grow and are seeing the benefits of integration, including the
completed migration of offshore customer accounts to RBSIs multi-currency
system and the start of a major investment programme in Isle of Man Bank.
